Martini but no Martini

I've just learned that most of those drinks with "martini" in the names, do not have martini inside the drink.

How weird is that?

For example, lychee martini. Ingredients include lychee liqueur, vodka and lychee juice. Where's the martini? And why is it called the lychee martini? Another example, red apple martini. You will need apple vodka, apple juice and grenadine syrup. Now where's the martini?

The only martini recipe I know now is, Choya martini. Choya and martini, 3 to 1, and a dash of soda. Ok at least it's making sense.

"I will do more research on this sometime soon."

India or Cambodia

The truth is, I want to go both places :p But I guess I only have one spot left this year and, maybe I will choose Cambodia. Or maybe somewhere else? Hee hee.

Over Time Drought

Nice.

Just when I thought I am going to put Phuket behind me and work harder for OTs in order to recuperate all the expenses incurred, this has to happen. So no OT for another one month? Two months? Probably so. Damn it.

"But what about my trips??"

Phuket -- After Thoughts

I'm back from my holiday. Well, all I can say is, people have overstated about the beauty of Phuket. Too commercialized, too expensive, and I had been to better beaches. Those tuk-tuk drivers are notorious when it comes to giving you their rates -- 300 baht for just a ten-minute ride in Patong! And that is the most expensive rate. For the same distance, the cheapest is 200 baht, for 6 people. So you can see from here, they treat everybody like "carrot heads", happy happy 200 baht, not happy 300 baht. And don't tell me about haggling skills, the 300 baht driver just wouldn't budge.

And shopping wise? The vendors are worst than the tuk-tuk drivers. 1200 baht (about 52SGD) for some fake Bilabong bikini! I just turned away immediately, I don't even bother to haggle. The next day I got the same fake Bilabong bikini for 350 baht (about 15SGD) from Otop market, haggling included of course. And 700 baht for fake Bilabong surf shorts? I had no choice but to accept the 350 baht price that I bargained for, because I had no shorts left. I realised that I can get the same shorts for 250 baht at the Otop market, but never mind.

But there are still things that I enjoy in Phuket. On top of my list, actually there are only 2 things, is live shooting and the snake show. Pretty interesting because it was my first time firing a 9mm Colt and watching a King Cobra show.

It felt unreal when I pulled the trigger of my Colt while practising, maybe because it felt light. But when I pulled the trigger again when it was loaded, I was in awed of the power of recoil. And when black smoke appeared, I knew that it IS real. It was so much fun.

And oh, there is one tour company which I would like to recommend, KING PK TOUR along the Patong beach area. Why? Because the nice lady Aom only charged us 1400 baht pp for an island hopping speedboat trip, instead of the usual 2800 baht. Our hotel charged us 2900 baht for the same thing. And when we said that we want to do shooting, she recommended her boyfriend, who is a tuk-tuk driver to drive us to and fro for 200 baht. But on the day itself, we had our doubts when the boyfriend showed us a map of where the shooting range is. It is a good half an hour ride from Patong. Because based on previous experience, ten minute ride is 200 baht, so 30 minute ride should be more? So a bunch of us were speculating that it must be 200 baht pp. With this in mind, we just went for shooting and later the boyfriend also brought us to the snake show and to Jungceylon, a shopping megamall. When we asked for the price of this whole trip, he said 200 baht. Were we surprised or what! Half a day for only 200 baht? That is easily the cheapest price we got for the whole Phuket trip. And for 6 pax! We immediately arranged with him for the transportation to the airport. An air-conditioned mini-bus for 700 baht.

I'm very grateful to these people. At least they had made my trip more memorable :)

Beach chairs by Patong beach.

More beach chairs.

Not bad for a first-timer who only tried once, huh?

Hee hee, my trainer asked me to pose.

I'm not afraid of snakes...

That is King Cobra and Johnny!

Some Thai cobras, I like this species.

My Weekend Getaway

Looking forward to my Phuket trip this coming Thursday. It's time to relax, yeah. I promise I won't get burnt this time, hopefully.

"Rabbit's clever," said Pooh thoughtfully.
"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit's clever."
"And he has Brain."
"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit has Brain."
There was a long silence.
"I suppose," said Pooh, "that that's why he never understands anything."

It's My Birthday!

At Sakae Sushi for dinner.

At home for cake cutting.

I'm 29 as of today.
Isn't it a wonder that time flew by so fast that I am convinced that I'm still 25? I sometimes wonder about the meaning of birthdays and I thought that it is totally unnecessary. But seeing friends and family remembering about it really made it a big deal. Makes me a big deal :)
My mum struck 4D yesterday so the dinner's on her. And I get to eat my Mango Paradise birthday cake. A simple bliss.
"29 and proud of it."

Get a life lah, look for girlfriends using the old school way lah. You relied too much on the internet lah. No wonder 36 years old still no girlfriend, pathetic loh.

"Boy, all those people you can find on the internet these days..."

Nothing to do -- 1st Trial

Just trying my hands on "studio" photography. Hmm... something is wrong with these shots, but I'm not sure where. The background color? The way I placed the lights? The overwhelming shadows in the foreground? Looks like I've got a lot to learn.

Imbeciles -- pui!

Why do I keep having this feeling that I'm working for a bunch of imbeciles?

From managers to engineers to supervisors to those itsy bitsy technicians who think they are bigger than the world. But the truth is, they suck. They do. They thought they know what they are doing, but I'm telling you now that they do not even have the slightest idea of what they are doing, and what that is going to get me into -- a lot of shit. They only yak and yak, and at the end of all those big talks and crazy ideas, lim bu is the one doing all the crap! Please excuse my choice of words.

And I can't help but think that I'm good. I'm really good when compared to these morons. But in fact, I'm not. I'm not really skilled, not really capable or anything. But these people simply cannot make it and hey presto! I'm suddenly the better one.

I wonder how long I can stay alive if I keep working here.
